Jay Sexton (they/them) is a lighting designer studying theatre and mathematics at Connecticut College. Primarily, they work in the Tri-State and New England areas as a designer, associate, assistant, and electrician.

Raised in suburban New Jersey and having pursued robotics engineering for the majority of their life, their path towards theatre has been anything but traditional. They are a passionate designer with a strong interest in the more technical elements of their work, and find a lot of joy in being part of a production that tells a story that you probably haven’t heard before. More often than not, Jay can be found running from theater to theater fixing whatever broken lights, consoles, or projectors they can get their hands on. Among other things, they love to solve problems, to teach, and their two cats Alvin and Bonnie.

Right now, Jay is working as an electrics technician at Maine State Music Theatre.
